The SKUAST Kashmir-UET UG 2026 syllabus for the B.Sc. Economics & Data Science program at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST Kashmir) mainly focuses on general aptitude and foundational knowledge other than deep specialization in physics or chemistry.

3. Detailed Subject-Wise Syllabus

A. General English

​Focuses on grammar, vocabulary, and basic language usage.

  • ​Tenses, Narration (Direct/Indirect), Modals, and Articles.
  • ​Active & Passive Voice, Prepositions, and Clauses.
  • ​Synonyms, Antonyms, and Homonyms (Pairs of words).
  • ​Idioms & Phrases.
  • ​Rearrangement of jumbled sentences and sentence correction.

B. General Awareness & General Intelligence

​A mix of current affairs and mental ability.

  • GK: National and international current events, Modern Indian History, and Indian Geography (Physical, Social, Economic).
  • Reasoning: Verbal and non-verbal reasoning, analogies, similarities/differences, number series, spatial visualization, decision-making, and problem-solving.

C. General Science

​Based primarily on NCERT Class 8–10 levels.

  • Physics/Chemistry: Sources of energy, properties of metals and non-metals, chemical properties of air/water, acids, and salts.
  • Biology: Life processes (Nutrition, Respiration, Transportation, Excretion).
  • Environment: Ecosystem components, food chains, food webs, and environmental pollution.

D. Basic Mathematics

​Critical for data science foundation.

  • Arithmetic: Real numbers, percentages, ratio & proportion, profit & loss.
  • Algebra: Polynomials, linear and quadratic equations, arithmetic progression.
  • Geometry: Coordinate geometry, introduction to Trigonometry (heights & distances).
  • Data/Calculus: Mensuration (area/volume), Statistics, and Probability.

E. Computer Applications

​Tests basic digital literacy.

  • ​Fundamentals of computer science (Hardware vs. Software).
  • ​Input and Output devices.
  • ​Operating Systems and the Internet/Email.
  • MS Office: Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

4. Key Preparation Tips

  • Data Focus: Since the course is in Economics and Data Science, focus heavily on Mathematics (Statistics/Probability) and Logical Reasoning.
